BCPL

Introduction

BCPL (Basic CPL) is a language designed for writing compilers. BCPL is a descendant from CPL (Combined Programming Language) (Richards & Whitby-Strevens 1980:1).

Discussion

This is a complete program that writes Hello, World in BCPL (Richards & Whitby-Strevens 1980:8):

  GET "LIBHDR"
  LET START() BE WRITES("Hello, World")
